A cat drawn carelessly reads as a generic four legged animal. So every design here starts from a pose that is unmistakably feline: sitting upright with the tail wrapped round the feet, the long stretch with the back arched, the crouch before a pounce, curled asleep with the tail over the nose. Twenty scenes, no repeats.
Ways to use these
- Start with the familiar one. Ask which cat looks most like the one they know, then print that one first. It turns a print job into a two minute conversation.
- Forgiving for the youngest. Fur is the one texture where going outside the line still looks deliberate, which makes these work for three year olds.
- Two to a sheet. These hold up shrunk two pages to a sheet, useful for a restaurant bag or a waiting room folder.

Frequently asked questions
Are these realistic or cartoon cats?
In between. The proportions are real enough that a sitting cat reads as a sitting cat, but the faces are simplified and the eyes are large. Nothing here is drawn with individual fur strokes.
Are specific breeds shown?
Not by name. Two read as long haired and the rest as short haired, but we do not label breeds. Getting a Maine Coon anatomically right is not what these are for.
Are there kittens as well as adult cats?
Four of the twenty are kittens: the ball of yarn (3), two sitting side by side (7), the mother with two nestled against her (12) and the pouncing one (19).
